Monsters in My Bedroom

Another little childrens poem that I wrote for my Grandchidren. It just reminds me of the things we believed in as chidren and how real they seemed at the time. Remember if your chidren have a problem with 'monsters' , don't deride them as 'being silly' because to them it is real.

You have to deal with them in a way that the child can believe in !

There’s MONSTERS in my bedroom, this isn’t just some lark,

There’s MONSTERS in my bedroom, they creep in when it’s dark.

My Mum say’s don’t be silly, and they will just go away,

But there’s MONSTERS in my bedroom, they get more real each day.

They hide behind the wardrobe and they hide beneath the bed,

There’s MONSTERS in my bedroom, and they could make me dead.

I know they are real and nasty, they make me feel all cold,

There’s MONSTERS in my bedroom, why wont my mum be told?

I am scared when I go to bed at night, I just cry and cry,

Why wont my Mum believe me, WHY, oh WHY, oh WHY?

……………………………………………………………………………..

There’s NO MONSTERS in my bedroom, and they wont be coming back!

‘Cos Grandad bashed them, with his hockey stick, and put them in his sack.

He went up there, all by himself, and found them every one,

Took them away, in the big black sack, and said “ That’s it – it’s done!"

Now I can go to sleep at night again, I don’t even need the light,

‘Cos Grandad, he believed me, and sorted them monsters right!
